Carolyn Hale Director - Circle of Friends

Congratulations to Carolyn for being recognized as an NAPW VIP Woman of the Year!

As a teacher who began in the lowest income school in Washington DC, I, Carolyn C. Hale began my adult work with persons who had serious financial bases and often moved to many schools. I have spent years aiding those who struggle with mental illness and rejection. My skills and expertise include openness to all, education as a life-style, networking, community outreach and connections. As Director at Circle of Friends for Mental Health, which specializes in building health for adults living with serious and pervasive mental illness through programs in the arts and teens with addictions. I am circled by caring communities and exceptional people who support our work. My education a B.S. Early Childhood Education/ Maryland University and M.A. Curriculum/ University of Washington urged me to reach out, teach and learn. I have worked closely with National Alliance for Mental Illness, League of Women Voters and am a spokesperson and advocate for change in issues as mental health funding, ecological needs, rights of all with both the State and National Legislatures. I work with the Center for Cultural Interchange -Greenheart" to strengthen world peace and international understanding. Bellevue College requested that I teach Parent Education and the University of Washington hired me for work with health research. Having grown up in Washington DC where there was "no vote", elections are high on my issues. I am a Legal Shield Associate where I aid persons find support for quick affordable attorney advice and ways to prevent Identity Theft. My hobbies and interests include painting, bridge, walking, theater, tasting good wines, cooking, and singing with the Raging Grannies.

Patrick J Ciminera Director - Integration

Patrick comes from a background of recovery and is currently employed as a Peer Specialist at Sound Mental Health. Patrick works there with a population of dually diagnosed persons with Mentally Illness and Chemically Dependency issues. Patrick has been a peer at sound mental health for 6 years and has an Associate’s degree from both Seattle Central Community College and Diablo Valley College. Patrick has a diverse work history from starting in construction to all facets of office work. At Sound Mental Health Patrick arranged for computers to consumers, organized and facilitates fishing outings on Puget Sound, accompanies consumers to food banks and agencies to help consumers meet their needs. As a peer Patrick works with case managers to provide services that guide consumers to a place of recovery and resilience. Patrick facilitates WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Planning) to enhance consumers grasp on wellness and to learn to better manage their own lives. Patrick organized and facilitates Sound Mental Health Seattle Mariners outings. Patrick has achieved the rank of Black Belt in Martial arts at two schools as well as run two half marathons and seven full marathons. Patrick was a volunteer driver at Outdoors For All and a rock climbing assistant at Stone Gardens Climbing Gym . Patrick went to Yugoslavia on a building mission and helped Walnut Creek Presbyterian church with their 7th and 8th grade youth program. Patrick is an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church. He is presently organizing the Stampede Over Stigma event for Circle of Friends and building his own nonprofit called Integration to help raise money and awareness to help persons with mental illness.
